We refugees from Wittenberg, Sachsen Anhalt have held an internal meeting on 10.01.2016 to discuss the principles of sex equality and respect. The discussion permits us to come out with the following declaration.
We refugees respect the domestic laws of the Federal republic of Germany i.e. its Constitutional Law, etc. We acknowledge and respect the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (1979).
These respects imply that we refugees abstain from the event of “The New Year's Eve celebrations in the German city of Cologne” that is used as a pretext of “generalization” against refugees. Therefore, we express our moral support and solidarity to those victims. At the same time, we express our solidarity to refugees that do not engage themselves in such an event.
Germany should open-doors to all refugees and it is justified to save the lives of persecuted, displaced refugees. That is why we are united in our struggle to liberate, and protect ourselves from any form of abuse. That is why we urge the responsible authorities to do more to protect us from isolation, destruction, xenophobia and victimization.
We dissociate from this very malicious gesture which are of a nature used to discredit the refugees in general in Germany.
For this reason, we energetically condemn what happened on the night of December 31 in cologne. We are opposed to all kinds of assaults made especially to women.
