Liebe Freundinnen und Freunde, Schwestern und Brüder,
am 19. März 2003 begann der zweite Angriff der USA und befreundeter Staaten auf den Irak. Auf den Tag genau nach 8 Jahren eröffnete die französische Luftwaffe den Krieg gegen Libyen mit Bombardierungen. Beide Kriege verstießen gegen existierendes internationales Völkerrecht und waren illegal. Sie wurden indirekt unterstützt durch die Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Von hier aus flogen Flugzeuge und Nachschub für die Kriegsparteien der NATO-Staaten.
Amed Ahmad fled the war in Syria and lived in Geldern. On 6 July 2018, he was arrested without cause. He was deprived of his liberty for 73 days until he burned to death in his cell in Kleve Prison on 17 September 2018 under as yet unexplained circumstances. He spent 12 days in hospital. His father, who lives in Bonn, was not notified during this time. He only learned of his son's death through the media. His mother and siblings were fleeing the war in Syria. Amed longed for them and feverishly awaited their reunion.
Repeated excuses, lies, cover-ups and mishaps are being constructed to portray the death of Amed Ahmad as a "accident". Tomorrow, Tuesday 9 March 2021, the 28th parliamentary enquiry committee on the subject will take place in the NRW state parliament. On this occasion, the parents, friends and family of Amed Ahmad are calling for a press conference.
Amed Ahmad floh vor dem Krieg in Syrien und lebte in Geldern. Am 6. Juli 2018 wurde er grundlos verhaftet. 73 Tage wurde er seiner Freiheit beraubt, bis er am 17. September 2018 in der JVA Kleve unter bisher ungeklärten Umständen in seiner Zelle verbrannte. 12 Tage verbrachte er im Krankenhaus. Seine in Bonn lebender Vater wurde in dieser Zeit nicht benachrichtigt. Er erfuhr erst durch die Medien vom Tod seines Sohnes. Seine Mutter und Geschwister waren auf der Flucht vor dem Krieg in Syrien. Amed sehnte sich nach ihnen und fieberte dem Wiedersehen entgegen.
Wiederholt werden Ausreden, Lügen, Vertuschungen und Pannen konstruiert, um den Tod von Amed Ahmad als „Panne“ darzustellen. Am morgigen Dienstag, den 9. März 2021 findet der 28. parlamentarische Untersuchungsausschuss zu dem Thema im Landtag NRW statt. Aus diesem Anlass rufen die Eltern, Freundinnen und Freunde von Amed Ahmad zu einer Pressekonferenz.
Als Karawane-Flüchtlingsfrauenbewegung sind wir entsetzt und wütend darüber, dass das Land Hessen Afitap Demir ihrer Freiheit beraubt hat und sie in die Türkei abschieben will.
Corona hits us refugees particularly hard. Above all, our sisters and brothers, our children, who are on the move at the borders of Europe in search of a safe place, are living in a nightmare. Our families and acquaintances whom we have had to leave behind in our countries of origin are, in addition to the pandemic, perhaps additionally affected by wars or the economic consequences of the pandemic or sanctions. They are struggling to survive every day. Maybe they are also affected by the persecution of dictatorial regimes that forbid them to organise and stand up for their rights as workers, women, pupils and students or teachers.

7 January 2021 marks 16 years since the gruesome death of Oury Jalloh. He was unlawfully detained by the police in Dessau, maltreated, chained hand and foot and burned to death in the tiled cell No. 5 of the police station in Dessau. On the same day, the lies and cover-up attempts by the Dessau police and public prosecutor's office and their connected organs began. All questions from the family, acquaintances, friends of Oury Jalloh were dismissed. The burning questions prompted us to formulate them publicly in an organised way.
