More than 50 refugees on hunger strike in Munich since 22nd of June 2013

By azadi, 22 June, 2013

BREAKING NEWS: The police evacuated the camp in Munich arrested supporters and seperated the strikers to several hospitals. The striking refugees were carried away by them very brutally. Refugees who are not willing to get transported were beaten up by the police.

Declaration from the striking asylum seekers in Munich- Germany
To Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany and Andreas Voßkuhle, President of the Constitutional Court

We are asylum seekers from different countries who reside around Germany, but we are plagued by living in isolating camps, exclusion of freedom of movement and nightmare of deportation every night. We are not willing to live in this situation, even one more day.

We are only alive in these situations while we are aware of why we are here.
We are here because of war which, with the weapons and advanced suppression technologies manufactured in your countrie(s), has destroyed our safety in the places we were born in. We are here because of hundred years of colonization and exploitation and fatal economic boycotts, which have destroyed the political and economical infrastructure of peripheral countries. We are here because of your political and economical friendships which support dictatorships, out of your “first world” borders, which are closing the possibility of forming civil resistance in those geographical areas.

Because of these, we don’t see the German government (and other first worlds governments) in the position to question our reasons of being here or judge it in its own judicial system. We know living in welfare and safety is a right for everybody, and to achieve our fundamental human rights (right of staying, right of education, right of working, freedom of movement, right of choosing living place and etc) only one way exists for us - and that is the acceptance of our asylum applications.

Today in the streets of Munich, in the heart of the so-called democratic Europe which its human rights slogans scratched everybody’s psyche, we are going on hunger strike in order to get our our rights under §16a, Article 1 and the government of Germany only has 3 days for realizing this demand.

Now you are responsible for our lives and we want you to clarify for everybody that, in the 21st century, the life of a human being is more important than some pieces of paper.
