CARAVAN for the rights of refugees and migrants
We demand that the UNCHR and European countries guarantee the rights of asylum to the Kurdish and Iraqi refugees
The situation with the Iraqi refugees in its neighbouring countries, Middle-East and European countries is a tragedy unprecedented in the human history. Many thousands have resorted to begging, prostitution, child labour and 16 hours of daily work to make their basic daily
living.
There are thousands of them in prisons for exceeding there leaves to remain. There are thousands of disabled of war and suffering from shock after bomb explosions. Hundreds are suffering from smugglers and forced to take difficult and dangerous roots towards an unclear future.
Even in European countries they are victims of detentions, deportations and joining the queue of people without any identity. Up to now 7 groups of Iraqi Kurdish refugees have been deported to Kurdistan using military planes and inhuman procedures by the British government. Sweden
has also deported two groups back to Iraq in February 2009.
Deportations to the country which is totally insecure
Six years have passed since American and its allies war in Iraq killing, poverty, unemployment and lack of the basic services and everyday needs in Iraq. Iraq is still in the forefront of the countries with the ratio of refugees to the neighbouring countries, Europe, America and all over the world.
During the year 2008 Turkish and Iranian governments have bombed and attacked North-Iraq 270 times at least. Explosions and attacks continue still in the area.
In order to prevent further suffering to the conscience of out humanity we ask you to consider the following demands and show your responsibility:
- Immediate end to the policy and practices of deportation of the Iraqi Kurds refugees by the European countries.
- Declaration of all agreements between the Iraqi government and European countries regarding deportation of the refugees as invalid.
- Release of all Iraqi refugees from prisons and detention centres who have been detained because of illegal entry or their leave to remain expired, or those who have committed a crime should not be
deported in any case but they should be punished according to the laws of those countries.
- All kurdish and Iraqi asylum seekers should be granted work permits and the right to family reunion.
- Those asylum seekers who are disabled, ill or in destitute and cannot make a living or those who have suffered disability because of wars and explosions should be treated in a peaceful place.
- Those asylum seekers who are residing outside European countries should be provided with all social, health and education services or transferred to European countries, and all those asylum seekers who have applied to the UNHCR in those countries should be provided with average means to survive according to the standard of living of those countries.
- The UN should pressurise the European countries to fulfil these demands in supporting refugees and make a stand in this regard to stop forced deportations of the refugees to ease the pressure on the Kurdish and Iraqi refugees.
